Impressions and Improvisations: The Prints of Romare Bearden.

A master of collage and printmaking, Romare Bearden was one of that century’s most influential artists. This exhibition, which is  to focus soley on Bearden’s printmaking, features 75 vividly colored graphic works, including working print plates and proofs that reveal the artist’s creative process.

The Romare Bearden Foundation organized the exhibition, originally titled, From Process to Print: the Graphic Works of Romare Bearden, and Pomegranate Communication published an illustrated catalogue.

Romare Bearden: Southern Recollections                                     The Newark Museum

Newark, NJ.- Last fall, The Mint Museum in Charlotte presented this major retrospective of the work of Romare Bearden (1911-1988). The exhibition Romare Bearden: Southern Recollections surveys 50 years of the artist’s work, from his early abstract paintings to the influential collages that dominated his later body of work. Opened on the centennial of Bearden’s birth, the exhibition will travel to the Tampa Museum of Art and Newark Museum in this summer.
